Beans - Super Baked Beans
Ingredients: Super Baked Beans
 
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 tbsp. baking soda
  • 2 c. sm. white beans
  • 2 sliced yellow onions
  • 2 (10 1/2 oz.) cans tomato soup
  • 2/3 to 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • Minced garlic
  • 1 soup can water
  • 1 soup can dry red wine
  • Dash of Worcestershire sauce
Method:
  1. Soak beans overnight, then bring to a boil with baking soda. Drain and rinse, then boil in plain water 15-30 minutes.
  2. Fry meat and crumble. Drain fat, then mix with drained beans. Put half of mixture in 3-quart Dutch oven. Cover with half of onion slices and brown sugar, salt and pepper. Repeat.
  3. Combine liquids and pour over beans. Cover and bake at 300 to 325 degrees for 6-8 hours. Slow baked is best. Flavor is even much better the next day.
Beans Recipes- Baked Beans, Vegetarian
Ingredients:
  • 1 pint pea beans
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ tablespoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • ½ cup corn syrup
  • 1/3 cup corn oil
  • Bull's Eye Barbeque Sauce

Method:

  • Vegetarian Recipe, Soak the beans over night.
  • In the morning, drain and boil till the skins begin to loosen, in water containing the soda.
  • Drain, combine with the other ingredients in an earthenware casserole.
  • Cover, bake slowly two hours, adding water as necessary; uncover to brown.

Beans - Egyptian Lentils
 
  • 1 c Lentils
  • 1 c Elbow macaroni
  • 2 Fresh Chili peppers
  • 2 tb Vinegar
  • 1 1/2 c Regular rice
  • 3 tb Oil
  • 1 1/2 c Tomato sauce
  • 1 lg Onion
Method:

Place lentils in a Saucepan and cover by 1". Turn heat to high, bring to a boil, turn down heat to simmer, and cook covered for 35 minutes or until tender. Drain and transfer to a large bowl. Set aside. Bring 3 cups of water to a boil, add Rice turn down to simmer for 20 minutes and fluff up Rice with a fork and add to lentils. Boil 2 quarts of water, add elbow macaroni and cook until tender. Add to lentils.. In a small Skillet add 1 tbl of oil and saute finely chopped peppers for 2 minutes. Add the tomato sauce, 1/2 cup of water, and the vinegar, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. In another Skillet heat 2 tbls oil, add onions and saute until brown around the edges. Garnish lentil mixture with the onions and pour the tomato Sauce over all. Serve immediately
